We filmed in two locations for our title sequence that heavily contrast with each other. Our first location was a photography studio that was quite dark. However, we had access to multiple light boxes which allowed us to direct the light in any way we wanted to. We wanted to focus on shadows to emphasize the darkness of the room as well as the mysterious character's personality. The other location was a market which we filmed at during the day so there was a lot of natural light and additional lights to impact the warm atmosphere of the market. We couldn't manipulate the natural light but this allowed us to present the realistic environment and time of day clearly to the audience.
We wanted our audience to be able to relate with our characters, therefore we planned the costumes to represent what is expected of the age range 19 - 35 years-old. This is why the three girls are seen wearing trainers and jeans as those are the main items that are always considered the main parts of an outfit to girls their age. The costumes are also structured to the personalities of the characters, for example the mysterious figure is dressed in all black and wears a hoodie to hide his identity. This reflects that his personality is very dark and isolated and makes the audience want to find out more about him.
The main props in the sequence include a pot of ink, a pen and a letter. The letter is the most essential prop to the sequence and is what the whole film's narrative revolves around. Despite them seeming like quite small and irrelevant props, they are shown to hold some importance through the use of low angles looking up on to the props to give them a sense of importance.
